Get DMV Appointments ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Our Promise to You
We will never sell, rent, trade, or give away your personal data. Not today, not in the future, not under any circumstances within our control. Your information exists for one purpose: to book your DPS appointment. Once that is done, it is deleted -- the one exception is a proof-of-consent record if you opted in to text messages, which includes the text messages we sent you (see Data Retention).
The only exception is when required by the law of the land: a valid court order, a lawful subpoena, or a formal request from law enforcement agencies with proper legal authority. Even then, we will only disclose the minimum information required and will notify you unless prohibited by law from doing so.
This is not fine print. This is a brand promise from a family business that built this service for our own family first. We treat your data the way we would want ours treated.
--- Abhi, Founder
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to book a Texas DPS appointment on your behalf:
Personal Information
- Full name (first and last)
- Date of birth
- Last four digits of your Social Security Number
- Email address
- Phone number (optional -- included in your DPS booking, and used for our own text message notifications only if you opt in)
Payment Information
Payment is processed entirely by Stripe. We never store your full credit card number, CVV, or billing address on our servers. We only receive a confirmation of payment status from Stripe.
Automatically Collected Data
- IP address (for security and abuse prevention, and as proof of consent if you opt in to text messages)
- Browser type and device information
- Pages visited and timestamps
2. How We Use Your Information
Your personal information is used solely to:
- Submit appointment booking requests to the Texas DPS scheduling system on your behalf.
- Communicate with you about your search status, booking confirmations, and refunds.
- Process payments and refunds via Stripe.
- Provide customer support when you contact us.
- Send you optional text message notifications about your appointment, if you opt in.
Your payment information is used solely to process the service fee charged by Get DMV Appointments. No payment is made to any government agency on your behalf. The Texas DPS does not charge any fee for scheduling appointments.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
Text Message (SMS) Notifications
If you check the text-message box during checkout, we will send you up to two text messages per booking, both transactional: (1) a confirmation when your appointment is booked, and (2) one reminder 24 hours before your appointment. We will never send you marketing or promotional text messages.
Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier. Message frequency: up to 2 messages per booking. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or get assistance by replying HELP. If you opt out, your mobile carrier or our messaging platform may send you an automated message confirming your opt-out, and after that we will not send you any further text messages -- nor will we sell or transfer your phone number to another party. Texts are sent in the language of the site you used when opting in (English or Spanish).
3. Data Encryption and Security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- Encryption at rest: Sensitive personal information (name, date of birth, last four SSN digits) is encrypted using AES-256-GCM before being stored in our database.
- Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is protected with TLS (HTTPS).
- Access controls: Row-level security policies ensure that only you and our booking system can access your data.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only as long as necessary:
- Personal data (PII): Automatically purged 90 days after your search is completed or cancelled, with one exception for SMS proof-of-consent records, below.
- SMS consent records: If you opted in to text messages, we keep a record of that opt-in -- the consent language you agreed to, the date, the phone number it applies to, and the IP address and device/browser (user-agent) information captured when you consented -- for up to 5 years, retained even after account deletion, so we can prove we had your permission. The same record includes the text messages we actually sent you -- their verbatim content, timestamps, and delivery identifiers -- kept under the same terms. This record is kept solely as proof of consent; it is never used to send you anything and is never sold or shared.
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
- Payment records: Retained as required by law for tax and accounting purposes.
