Is this legal? Is DPS okay with this?

Can you book a slot in a city I don't live in?

Yes. Pick any DPS office in Texas. All 236. A Houston driver who'll accept Austin has more chances than one who only wants Houston. More offices, more chances. Our system runs across every office you pick, in parallel. If a slot opens in Round Rock at 2:47 AM and you said yes to Round Rock, it's yours. You decide how far you're willing to drive. How do I cancel or reschedule the appointment you book?

The same way you would any DPS appointment. Your email confirmation has a link straight to DPS's own system. Click it, cancel or reschedule. Done. We don't gate that. We don't charge a fee. We don't ask you to fill out a contact-us form to find out how to cancel a DPS appointment. It's your appointment. You can reschedule a DPS appointment through DPS, same as if you'd booked it yourself at the counter.

What happens to my data after the appointment?

We don't handle your logins. Not your Texas.gov password. Not your DPS login. We never ask for them — we don't need them to book your appointment. Can I just walk into Texas DPS without an appointment?

Technically yes, practically a gamble. Some smaller offices accept walk-ins for license replacement or plate transactions on slow days. Mega Centers in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio almost never — not for a driver's license, learner's permit, or Real ID. Yes, Texas DPS is essentially by appointment only for the things most people need. Plan on four to six hours of waiting, and the office can turn you away at capacity.

Can you book a Real ID upgrade appointment?
